I do promise i’ll make some kind of a summary as soon as everything is resolved (meaning, back in Belgium, passed the jury exam, graduated LOL, or at least I hope so )

Anyway, we have a saying called ‘No news is good news’, so just keep that in mind in this case

Today our first day at work. We arrived around 9.30am (which was early, so we heared) José Varela gave us a quick tour, and introduced us to everyone who was already there. We got an own (neat looking) office for the 3 of us, where we can work in silence. About 2 hours later, we got a brief explanation about the 3 projects, and after that told us Mr Filipe would arrive in the afternoon to already give a detailed explanation about a project. We also had to decide who would work on which project.

Since project 2 and 3 are focussing on the same ‘problem’ Alexander and I decided to work together on those, and Wesley (who rather worked alone) agreed to work on project 1, which was focussed on an other ‘problem’. In the afternoon, when Mr Filipe arrived, he introduced us to Ricardo Ameixa, a student of the University where Mr Filipe teaches. He had already been working on a component related to our project #3, so he’s assigned as the responsible for that project. He explained in details what the problem was, and possible ways of solving it. We decided to do some research in the methods he proposed, and some things we thought might be useful as well. At about 18.30 pm we ‘checked out’ (just before lunch, we registered our fingerprints on the biometric system, it’s like a punchcard system, but more sophisticated).

And that was our first day at work.. I wonder what tomorrow brings

We landed yesterday around 14.20 pm local time. We had no problems at all, so we were quite happy.  First we made a phone call to José Varela (the owner of the apartment) to let him know we landed, he told us his wife was waiting for us with the keys, and he would visit us later since he was busy at that time. The taxi ride wasn’t that expensive either, and we already had a nice view on the way to our apartment. After about 40 minutes (i really didn’t pay attention to the time, since i had other things to look at) we arrived at the appartment, where Rosa was waiting for us. She gave us a quick tour, and left again, so we decided to rest a bit, till José came. After 20-25 minutes he rang the doorbell and we finally met José, he explained us everything we needed to know, but there were some things he needed to take care of. He left again (to return again later that evening, to fix the tv’s). Meanwhile, we went shopping (in the Lidl, about 300m away from the apartment) and prepared supper. Since we were all tired, we went to bed pretty early. (Didn’t sleep very well, because of all the car noises, there seems to be a lot of traffic in that street, I’ll have to get used to that).

Today, we didn’t do that much: explored Sétubal in the afternoon (and yes, enjoying the nice weather as well) some more shopping and we went together with José to a sort of Office-equipment shop to buy a new router (which solved our problem concerning internet).

It’s pretty late right now, tomorrow first day at work, so I won’t stay up that long.. More news tomorrow.

I’m up to not much for now, just resting after a term of hard work in school (not to mention those exams at the end) but soon (meaning tomorrow porlly) i’ll start studying Portuguese to be able to understand at least a bit when i’m in Portugal (for my internship)..

Exam today (Java networking, Servlets & JSP) went pretty good. It was hard, and a lot of work, but i have a good feeling about it Friday i have Mobile Programming, but that won’t be too much of a problem
